Robert Haldane, APM, PhD, BA (Hon). Welcome to my website. The purpose of this website is to give some insight into my work and interests: past and present. Noted in the past among family and friends for my aversion to computers and my insistence on always writing with pencil and paper – including a doctoral thesis – I have recently moved into the computer age and this website is for posterity: an acknowledgement that my children and other descendents will probably learn more about me in cyberspace than they will from tomes or tombstones. I retired from the Victoria Police Force in August 2001, after almost thirty-four years service and have maintained my local links in East Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. I am an Associate of the Gippsland Heritage Journal and a contributing author to the Gippsland Heritage Journal and Gippsland Country Life magazine. Since 2001 I have been a contributing reviewer to the The Age Good Food Guide. I am the author of the centenary publication, A Century of Service: The Story of the Buchan Bush Nursing Association, which was published in August 2011. Currently I am completing a revised and updated 3rd Edition of the official history of the Victoria Police, The People's Force, which is scheduled for publication in 2014.
